CALEDONIA â After more than 40 years in business, Jo-Don Farms â a family-run zoo where generations of visitors enjoyed lions, alligators and more â has shut down.
But former employees have announced plans to open a similar attraction almost immediately at the same location, under the new name Caledonia Zoological Park.
Alex Meyer â who took over Jo-Don Farms when her father, Robert Meyer, died in December â said the COVID-19 pandemic had created financial troubles that could not be overcome. Meyer said she has relocated all 200 animals from the zoo, and she will not be able to reopen the 15-acre attraction, which has operated in Caledonia since 1975.

The Andover Fire Department has secured another piece of motor apparatus and all that remains to complete the motorization is a new ladder truck. The motor truck is a Pierce-Arrow model, six-cylinder, 110 horse-power and capable of traveling 50 miles an hour. The engines are of a heavy type and are in excellent condition.
In Andover police court Friday, Judge Stone sentenced John Buss and Charles Donaldson each to 20 days in the house of correction. The youths were accused of a disturbance and using indecent language in the Colonial moving pictures house. They denied the charge but after the evidence of Edgar G. Holt, who sat behind them, was heard, the court found the pair guilty and imposed sentence.

In a volte-face, Pakistan s Cabinet on Thursday rejected a proposal of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) to import cotton and sugar from India, according to a media report.
